Jimmy Cliff stars as Ivanhoe Martin (Jimmy Cliff) a young Jamaican who moves from the country to the big city with the dream of becoming a reggae singer. But when his first record, "The Harder They Come", proves a big hit, he finds himself embroiled with corrupt record producers, abusive cops and drug pushers, and is forced to resort to petty crime in order to survive... The Harder They Come was the first feature film to be produced by Jamaica and remains one of the most important films from the Caribbean - and boasts of the best soundtracks of all time.
