Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin star, respectively, as Doralee, Judy, Violet: three secretaries put upon their chauvinistic and thoroughly obnoxious boss Franklin Hart (Dabney Coleman). But when a freak incident occurs and the trio kidnap Hart and take control of his department, they are shocked to discover that productivity doesn’t just increase but positively leaps … 9-5 is a classic office satire and arguably Dolly Parton’s greatest screen role (the movie’s title track earned her an Oscar nomination) while the chemistry between the three leads is so great it’s no wonder they became fast friends in real life.
