“Joltingly violent, wickedly funny and rivetingly erotic.”
Screened in tribute to Diane Ladd (1935 - 2025)
Nicholas Cage and Laura Dern star as Sailor and Lula, a young couple who go on the run from Lula's domineering mother (a quite terrifying Diane Ladd) and the hitmen she hires to kill Sailor. But when Sailor hooks up with old friend Bobby Peru (a quite terrifying Willem Dafoe) and they decide to rob a store together, the star-crossed lovers find themselves in even more trouble than before... David Lynch's take on the lovers-on-the-run-road-movie is just as bonkers as you'd expect - while all the performances (including support from Isabella Rossellini, Harry Dean Stanton and Crispin Glover) are just as "committed" as you'd hope.
