Paper Moon (Peter Bogdanovich, 1973)

Tuesday 4 September 8pm

“A charming mixture of Hawksian comedy and Fordian lyricism.” - Geoff Andrew, Time Out

Ryan and Tatum O'Neil star as a small-time con man and his (supposed) daughter in Peter Bogdanovich's utterly charming and witty take on the buddy-cum-road-movie.

Set during the Depression of the American Midwest, Paper Moon is beautifully-shot by acclaimed cinematographer László Kovács with some lovely spiky chemistry between the two leads. This is Bogdanovich's warmest and most entertaining film (*whispers* - and arguably his best).

Why did we pick it?

While the father and son team in Bicycle Thieves struggle to stay on the right side of the law, the father and daughter of Paper Moon have no such ethical qualms.
