Inherit the Wind - Film Club at Home #33

“It is Inherit the Wind among all of Kramer’s films that seems most relevant and still generates controversy.”
— Roger Ebert

Following the science vs religion clash in Enemy of the People Nigel’s pick to continue our lockdown Chain is Stanley Kramer’s 1960 take on the infamous 1925 Scopes Monkey Trial, Inherit the Wind.

Spencer Tracey plays the bigshot lawyer defending Dick York’s school teacher, who’s on trial for breaking state law by teaching evolution. With Frederic March prosecuting and Gene Kelly’s cynical newsman commenting from the sidelines, this is not only a courtroom drama classic but full of themes that still resonate today.

Here’s Nigel and Wayne talking about the film…

We’d love to hear what you think of the film once you’ve seen it. Leave a comment here, send us an email, Tweet us @tpfilmclub or post on our Facebook page.
