According to Canadian filmmaker, Guy Maddin, his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba has ten times as many sleepwalkers as any other city in the world. What follows is a "docu-fantasia" combining archival footage, dreamlike camera work and recreated scenes - including several with actress Ann Savage playing the part of Maddin's mother. The resulting film is by turns historical, intimate, surreal, uncanny, highly entertaining and utterly original (and the winner of the Best Canadian Film at the Toronto International Film Festival).
