In 1979 young Iranian, Marji, watches the events that led to the downfall of the Shah’s brutal regime. However as Marji grows into a punk-loving teenager, she witnesses first-hand how the new Iran, now ruled by Islamic fundamentalists, has become a repressive tyranny on its own. Marjane's Satrapi's Oscar-nominated adaptation of her autobiographical graphic novel is moving film about a young girl's coming of age amidst war, fascism and family tragedy.
