Kill Bill: Vol 1 (Quentin Tarantino, USA, 2003)

  • The Lord Palmerston 33 Dartmouth Park Hill London, England, NW5 1HU United Kingdom (map)
Kill Bill may have little on its mind besides pop extravagance, yet you can feel the movie tracing a transition in the world — from West to East, from male to female rule.

Quentin Tarantino’s homage to his favourite 70s genre films takes inspiration from martial arts movies, samurai cinema, blaxploitation films, and spaghetti westerns! Among the many visible nods to other films include Lady Snowblood (showing at TPFC on Tuesday 10 May) so consider this part two of a double bill.

Four years after taking a bullet in the head at her own wedding, The Bride (Uma Thurman) emerges from a coma and decides it's time for payback... with a vengeance! Having been gunned down by her former boss Bill (David Carradine) and his deadly squad of international assassins, it's a kill-or-be-killed fight she didn't start, but is determined to finish.
