Paper Moon (Peter Bogdanovich, USA, 1973)

  • The Lord Palmerston 33 Dartmouth Park Hill London, England, NW5 1HU United Kingdom (map)
Part of an incredible 1970s career run for the director Peter Bogdanovich, Paper Moon remains a high point, not just for the talent involved behind the scenes and in front of the camera, but also for Hollywood.

Screened in tribute to Peter Bogdanovich (1939-2022)

Ryan and Tatum O'Neil star as a small-time con man and his (supposed) daughter in Peter Bogdanovich's utterly charming and witty take on the buddy-cum-road-movie.

Set during the Depression of the American Midwest, Paper Moon is beautifully-shot by acclaimed cinematographer László Kovács with some lovely spiky chemistry between the two leads - and brilliant support from the late great Madeline Kahn. This is Bogdanovich's warmest and most entertaining film (*whispers* - and arguably his best).
