The Nutty Professor (Jerry Lewis, USA, 1963)

[A] study in split personality that is as disturbing as it is hilarious...transcends mere pathology by placing that division within the cultural context of the Kennedy-Hefner-Sinatra era. Buddy Love was what the midcentury American male dreamed of becoming; Julius Kelp was what, deep inside, he suspected he actually was.
— New York Times

Screened in tribute to Jerry Lewis (1926 - 2017)

Jerry Lewis stars as Julius Kelp: a clumsy, awkward, inarticulate and unattractive college professor who is desperate to impress beautiful student Stella (Stella Stevens).  A chemistry-expert, he concocts a potion that temporarily turns him into the handsome, but obnoxious, Buddy Love. Jerry Lewis's take on Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is not only his most famous and popular movie, it was also his own personal favourite.
